Today, we went to Long Beach to the off leash dog beach . . . surf, sand, cute two- and four-legged girls, no leash . . . what more could I ask for?!

Now that the swimming and gymnastics are over with, Mom is pretty much done with the Olympics while Dad’s Olympic fever is in full gear with the track and field meets. (Although, at least she’s not watching DHC, she’s trying to finish her book before the baby comes.) I should note that Serbia now has two medal wins with one silver and one bronze. But Mom and I are in 8th and 7th place respectively with S. Korea totaling 26 medals and Germany totaling 31 medals. And, of course, the U.S. with a total of 99 medals.
Again, sorry Dad, no gold medals for Serbia yet. And Serbia trails behind in 60th place for total overall medals.
Unfortunately, nothing exciting to report from this week’s checkup. We have another appointment next Tues to see if Tanner will have made some progress by then. Quite bummed because our Dr. goes on vacation next week and then will be out again for Labor Day weekend. We really wanted Dr. Jick to deliver the Tankster.
So, in the meantime, we continue to wait . . .
We are on official baby watch with 10 days to our due date (if Tank decides to arrive on time). The nursery is complete (absolutely no more trips to Babies R Hell), car seat installed (so weird to have a mom car now!), and the bassinet, swing and combi seat are all set up (thanks Dad). Phil has a really bad cold, so we’re hoping he gets better quickly. We go the Dr.’s tomorrow for our weekly check up. I’ll post an update if there’s any news.
Pictures of the completed nursery below.
Since Mom isn’t sleeping well at night, we’ve been staying up to watch the Olympics (a huge improvement over the Discovery Health Channel — I don’t think I could take watching yet another “Birth Story”). Of course, like all Americans, we’ve been swept up in the overall medal counts. Go Team USA with the most medals to date. But, mom and I would like to point out that the South Koreans (my soon-to-be brother’s cousins) are in third place with 13 total medals and my cousins, the Germans, are in eighth place with nine overall medals.
Sorry, Dad, the Serbians haven’t won a medal yet.
Today we had our last sonogram. It looks like I have huge chipmunk cheeks and lots of hair (possibly more than Dad). The Dr. estimates I’m about 7.5 lbs. Length is impossible to measure because I’m all curled up (laying on my left side). Although, I do have two huge-sized feet right next to my face.
Mom was convinced I was going to come early, but now thinks I’ll either be right on time or late. I haven’t moved into position yet, and seem content to just hang out and enjoy these last few weeks in the womb.
Mom would post the sonogram pics, but they are very hard to make out. I’ll be here soon enough!
